Gems Party
Gems Party is a slot game that blends the classic appeal of gem-based puzzles with modern, dynamic block mechanics. Developed for the 188 Bet platform, the game is designed for both mobile and desktop users, ensuring a seamless cross-platform experience.
The goal was to reimagine traditional gem-themed slot games with a fresh, innovative art direction. After exploring multiple artistic styles, we ultimately chose a contemporary e-sports-inspired aesthetic, aligning with current gaming trends to create a visually striking and engaging experience.
As a fan of block-matching games, I was excited to merge classic puzzle mechanics with an e-sports-inspired theme. I looked forward to seeing how these two styles would collide and evolve throughout the design process.
As a 2D visual designer, I established the game's futuristic e-sports theme with a strong cyberpunk aesthetic. The UI design incorporates mechanical elements and a vibrant fluorescent style, creating a visually dynamic experience that sets it apart from traditional slot games.
Ideation Process
During the brainstorming and early sketching phase, I explored two distinct visual directions: a cyberpunk-inspired futuristic style and a cute, traditional mobile game aesthetic. While I was personally drawn to the high-tech cyberpunk look, I also considered a more familiar style that aligns with classic mobile games.
After discussions with the marketing team and stakeholders, we collectively determined that the e-sports aesthetic was the best choice. Its growing popularity and market appeal made it the ideal direction for creating a visually striking and engaging experience, ultimately shaping the final design.
Challenges
One of the main challenges in this project was balancing high-quality visuals with performance optimization. The game incorporates extensive animations and special effects, which significantly impact file size and download speed. The challenge was finding the right trade-off—maintaining visual richness while ensuring smooth performance and fast load times.
Solutions
To optimize performance without compromising visual quality, we implemented a dynamic asset management system:
Image Compression – We reduced image file sizes to 75% to minimize load times while preserving visual clarity.
Adaptive Quality Settings – The game features both Low Quality (LQ) and High Quality (HQ) modes, allowing players to start with LQ assets for faster initial access while HQ assets continue downloading in the background.
This approach ensured a seamless player experience, balancing performance efficiency with high-quality visuals.

UI/UX Design Approach
Since Gems Party follows a classic block game format, I focused on optimizing familiarity and usability to enhance player experience:
Visual Consistency – I referenced competitor block colors to ensure quick recognition and intuitive gameplay, allowing players to adapt seamlessly.
Ergonomic Controls – The operation area was positioned at the bottom for one-handed play, keeping all essential functions within thumb’s reach.
Optimized Interaction Flow – The UI layout was designed based on the natural order of commonly used buttons, ensuring smooth and comfortable navigation.
By prioritizing intuitive design choices, the interface delivers a seamless and user-friendly gaming experience.
Additional Design Work
Once the mockup is finalized, I proceed with designing additional game pages and collaborating with developers to create a comprehensive game flowchart.
After ensuring that all design elements are complete and nothing is missing, I move on to designing the game logo and advertisements. Finally, I organize and export the necessary assets, preparing them for seamless integration with the development team.
Project Feedback & Market Reception
The 188Bet platform reported highly positive user feedback, particularly praising the game’s visual design and music settings. Players appreciated the machinery and cyberpunk aesthetic, which created a distinctive and immersive gaming environment.
Additionally, the game stood out as a prominent slot title on the platform, with its unique, modern style attracting a wave of new players, further validating its market appeal.
